History

One of my greatest joys is to be in nature. At home, I have a wood fire burning almost every day and it feeds my soul, year round. I was just a young child when my father first taught me how to light a fire with spark. 

With Flint & Forge, I’m looking to my childhood and youth being with my father and brother in the woods, building shelters, hunting and fishing, being by a fire. The sound of wood crackling, the hiss of sap boiling and escaping from the pulp. These are formative memories, moments I’ll never forget.

Hand-making these fire starters at home here in the Sierras of Northern California reminds me of this past time in my life in Canada. Creating a physical object that gets us closer to nature, closer to each other, friends and family and creating memories together - that the backbone of Flint and Forged.

The flint sparks the flame, and the memories are forged.
